Tap replacement and repair

Dripping, stiff, or just tired-looking — kitchen, basin, bath and outside taps replaced or repaired.

Repair or replace?

A dripping tap is usually a worn washer or ceramic cartridge, and on a decent tap that's a cheap repair worth doing. On a cheap mixer, the cartridge often costs close to a new tap and won't be the last thing to fail — we'll tell you which situation you're in before spending your money.

Kitchen taps

The common jobs are a mixer that's started dripping, a monobloc that's gone stiff, or an upgrade to a pull-out spray. Kitchen taps are the fiddliest to change — the nuts sit behind the sink bowl in almost no space.

Basin and bath taps

Straightforward as long as the isolation valves work. On older houses they often don't, and we'll fit new ones while we're there so the next job is a ten-minute one.

Outside taps

New outside tap fitted with its own isolation valve and a double check valve, as the water regulations require. Usually an hour or two depending on the wall.

Hard water

This area is hard water and limescale is what kills most taps and shower valves here. If you're replacing taps regularly, a water softener is worth a conversation.
